Hi, I’m Emma! I’m originally from the Wirral but have been living and working in Manchester for the past few years now (I love it here!). I currently work in an SEN school, supporting 2 deaf children by teaching them BSL. It is the most rewarding and fulfilling job I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing and I know that I’m very lucky to say that I absolutely love what I do. I first took an interest in sign language when I was in my first year of University (way back in 2011!) when I saw a lady perform Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ in sign language – it was so inspiring that I knew from that moment I just had to learn how to sign. I graduated from BSL Level 6 in July 2018, and I am just so excited to continue to learn and develop by being a part of the Wayne Barrow Academy! I love meeting new people, socialising with friends and family, being outdoors and also snuggling up with my cat and having a cosy night in.

Why I sign:
I sign because I love to; it enables me to communicate with a whole other community and it is such an interesting, complex and beautiful language.
People with no manners and when people talk with their mouth full or chew loudly (ahh!)
